Mobile Phones Set To Go Green with Universal Charger – By 2012

With everyone focussing on Green and the environment, switching to energy efficient light bulbs, reducing the power required for things left on standby and generally encouraging people to turn off and unplug it was inevitable that the Mobile Phone industry would have to stand up and take note of what has been annoying us all for years – Why is it that every time you upgrade your phone you have to get a new mains charger and car charger!

Companies including LG, Nokia, Motorola, Orange, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, T-mobile and Vodafone have signed up to energy-efficient universal charger using the Micro USB currently used on new models from Nokia, Motorola and Blackberry. This means that nearly three quarters of all new mobile phones will comply with the new universal charger solutions so you could have a single charger to work with all your households’ mobile phones and upgrade without worry about the new accessories you need to buy and how to dispose of the old.

It is envisioned that the universal chargers will be distributed separately from mobile phones in the near future allowing the re-use of existing chargers and giving you more flexibility in what you buy and from where.
With number of chargers required for your mobile phones reduced why not take the next step in reducing the overall number of chargers required in your house hold and purchase a PowerStar GO so you have just the one charger for your mobile phones, MP3 players and digital cameras.

As for your incorporating this with laptop - that might take us a bit longer but we will get there!
